Sofort Online Bank Transfer Casinos
Although credit and debit cards seem to be the most popular payment methods out there at the moment, we know plenty of players that appreciate the simplicity and transparency that comes with bank transfers.
There are some significant problems associated with them, however – and we guess that the most important one is that you sometimes have to wait days for them to get fully processed, especially if you submit a transfer in the middle of a holiday season. This is arguably acceptable as far as big purchases are concerned, but it’s most certainly not ideal when it comes to casino and sportsbook deposits.
With that, we’d like to introduce Sofort, a service that’s designed to make bank transfers faster and more convenient.
Sofort has a fairly long history, as it was founded back in the year of 2005 – and it actually started under the name of Payment Network. In 2013, the company – which was already bearing the name of Sofort by then – merged with Klarna, a large Swedish e-commerce company. Despite the merger, both firms continue to operate independently, and it seems to us that Sofort hasn’t suffered one bit. Nowadays, it has deals with more than 35,000 merchants, employs more than 150 people and processes more than 3 million transactions every single month.
At the time of writing, the service was available to customers from Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Belgium, France, the Netherlands, the United Kingdom, Italy, Spain, Poland, Hungary, Slovakia and Czech Republic.
How It Works
Using Sofort is incredibly simple. First of all, you’ll need to select the service as your preferred payment method at the online casino or bookmaker you’re playing at. Secondly, you’ll have to decide how much you want to deposit and confirm that you’ve entered the right amount. Once you get past that step, you’ll be taken to the Sofort interface in which you will simply pick the bank at which you have an account.
Next, you’re going to log into your bank account from within that very interface. You’ll then receive a text message with a special authorization code that you’ll need to enter in order to confirm that it’s really you who’s making the payment. That will be it – and your deposit should get processed in a matter of seconds or minutes.
If this short summary hasn’t done the trick, you should consider heading over to Sofort’s official website, as it includes two helpful videos that will basically walk you through the entire process.
Sofort has never aspired to become a full-fledged online wallet, which means that there aren’t any additional features to take advantage of – and that’s probably for the better, as it means that the service can be as streamlined as possible.
We would, however, like to mention that the service is available for both desktop computers and mobile devices, so you can use it whenever you are and whenever you want – and the good news is that you don’t need to download and install any apps in order to be able to use it on your smartphone. Not all online casinos allow mobile deposits through Sofort, but that’s not the service’s fault.
Privacy and Security
Sofort is there only to facilitate bank transfers between buyers and merchants, so it’d be slightly unreasonable to expect it to do anything in connection with privacy and security. In fact, you might have legitimate concerns about how your login details are processed, as they do have to go through Sofort’s servers – and the only thing that we can say in order to alleviate your worries is that Sofort has never been involved in any controversies and that it has all the necessary certificates.
We’ve already mentioned that some of you might have issues with the fact that you have to give your login details to a third party, but there’s more that we should mention here if you’re to get the entire picture – although it’s fair to say that all the other gripes are rather minor.
Firstly, there’s the fact that payments that are made through Sofort aren’t going to qualify for any credit card programs that you might want to take advantage of. This is quite obvious, but it may nonetheless convince some of you to stay away from Sofort and bank transfers as such.
Secondly, Sofort isn’t available outside Europe and the number of supported banks is also limited, so you’ll need to do a bit of research before you start using the service, especially if you are located in one of the smaller European countries. What’s more, there are no guarantees that you’ll be able to use it forever, as Sofort seems to need direct deals with the banks it supports.
Finally, it seems to us that not all online casinos and bookmakers are willing to accept Sofort payments for one reason or another, although all of them accept regular bank transfers. All in all, you need to be slightly lucky in order to be able to use the service for casino and sportsbook deposits.
Put simply, Sofort is a great service for everyone who’s using direct bank transfers when paying online, as it makes the entire process quicker and much more comfortable – and there aren’t really any negatives to the service given that it’s currently free for buyers (it’s not free for merchants, however).
If you’ve already abandoned bank transfers, there obviously isn’t much to be found here, but the service could be used as an argument for you to reconsider your choices and try bank transfers once again – after all, Sofort is designed to do away with the minuses that are typically associated with them.
