Windy Farm Slot Review

Although it’s clear that different players play slot games for different reasons, we suppose that there’s a huge number of those that just want to relax a bit without having to get into any tough or nervous situations. Games developers naturally understand this, so there’s a never-ending stream of casual games with fairly simple themes.

Windy Farm, which was released by Rival slots in 2016, belongs firmly to that category of games, combining an uncomplicated theme with straightforward gameplay features. Can the game match what’s on offer elsewhere, however? Well, that’s what we’re going to look at in this review, so read on to find out!

Theme and Graphics

As you’re probably able to guess, Windy Farm is all about enjoying a laid-back atmosphere that doesn’t feature any tense moments. And that’s indeed what you’re going to get, with the symbols featuring not only a bunch of animals, but also some farming equipment. The traditional suite of A-K-Q-J-10 symbols is thrown into the mix as well, but the good news is that it’s fairly stylish, so it’s hard to be bothered by it all that much.

We don’t have any complaints about Windy Farm’s soundtrack either, as it provides a nice background for the action that unfolds on the reels. It’s laid-back and it doesn’t get tiresome very quickly, although we do suppose that you’ll want to turn the music off during longer sessions.

We’re now going to turn our attention to the slot’s gameplay features – and we’ll naturally start with the Wild symbol.

In Windy Farm, it comes in the form of a cockerel and it works as a substitute for all the other symbols in order to make winning paylines. It can appear only on reels 1, 2, 3 and 4, but there are two nice kickers associated with it. Firstly, all Wild symbols will expand up when the weather is windy and down when it’s not (don’t worry, the game will let you know when it’s windy by blowing dust across the playing field). Secondly, all Wilds will double as x2 multipliers during free spins.

How can you activate free spins, however? Well, all you need to do is find a bunch of bulls on the board during a single spin. Once you find at least three of them, you’ll be rewarded by seven free spins.

Windy Farm takes place across fifty paylines that are found on a playing field that consists of five reels and three rows.

That alone wouldn’t be very interesting, but we can tell you that it’s possible to change the number of paylines you want to play with, so it’s very easy for players to find the betting level that suits them the most. You can stake just €0.01 on a single spin, but it’s possible to take that all the way up to €125, so there’s certainly no shortage of betting options.

Unfortunately, the theoretical RTP (return to player) of Windy Farm isn’t as good as we would like it to be. It sits at 94.26% – and that really isn’t a number that you’d see very often nowadays. We suppose that this detail might have something to do with the fact that Rival are happy to cater to US-friendly casinos, which tend to operate with higher margins, but that doesn’t do much to alleviate our disappointment.

When everything is put together, it isn’t all that hard to see that Windy Farm is a decidedly mid-range slot that doesn’t aspire to become a chart-topper. It doesn’t have any really strong points, as it’s all about mixing a simple theme with straightforward gameplay features, but there are some positives to be found in the large number of betting options and the laid-back atmosphere.

There are some negatives as well, however, with the low RTP being the most disappointing of them all. We can see the reasons behind Rival not upping it significantly, but we’re also sure that it’s going to put a lot of players off.

With that, it’s quite tough for us to recommend this slot to the vast majority of players, as there are far better slots out there – and we aren’t sure how many gamers have the appetite to stomach yet another run-of-the-mill game that’s all about getting the fundamentals right. Give Windy Farm a go if you’re one of those players that like to have a new game for every single session, but don’t go in expecting an incredible experience that would glue you to the screen for long days and nights.

Where to Play

Chances are that you now want to give Windy Farm a go, so what we’re going to do is give you a casino recommendation – and the interesting bit to mention here is that Rival, the company that produced the slot, are one of the few games developers that are happy to cater to US-friendly online casinos.

And, with that, we simply can’t fail to mention Ignition Casino, as these guys undoubtedly belong to the best US-friendly casinos on the market right now.

First of all, they have a very solid games repertoire that includes slot games from more than just a single developer. Secondly, they are backing that up with nice bonuses and promotions that everyone can take advantage of.

Finally, Ignition Casino are also doing their very best when it comes to banking, which tends to be a very problematic issue as far as US-friendly casinos are concerned. Not only are they offering all the traditional methods that most US players like to use, such as American Express deposits starting at $20, but they are also open to Bitcoin deposits, also starting at $20, which are becoming increasingly popular all across the board.
