Theme and Graphics

As you could probably guess from its name, this slot is set in a fantasy world full of brave knights, dangerous enemies and fair princesses. It’s not as boring as it sounds, however, as Rabcat decided to go for a fairly grim atmosphere, so that’s the one thing that makes Forsaken Kingdom stand out from all the other fantasy slots.

What you’re going to find on the game’s symbols is an elegant mix of traditional K-Q-J-10 symbols and things like swords, knights and castles. The production values are excellent and there’s an animated background to accompany you on your quest for riches, so we’re happy to give the game top marks for how it looks.

And, well, we’re also happy to give it top marks for how it sounds, as the soundtrack is incredibly atmospheric.

Gameplay

We’ve had nothing but praise for Forsaken Kingdom’s audiovisuals, but what about the slot’s gameplay? Well, there’s nothing to be worried about here either, as there’s a plethora of interesting features to look forward to!

To kick things off, there’s the Wild symbol that depicts Lady Guinevere and which always covers the entire middle reel to allow for more winning combinations. Interestingly, there’s also an instant bonus win waiting for you if you get the King Arthur symbol beside the Wild on the top row – and you’ll also get a similar reward if you find the King Arthur symbol beside the Black Knight symbol on the top row.

Apart from that, there are also Shield symbols that are associated with two separate features, the first of which is the Free Spin feature. Once you get three or more Shield symbols during a single spin, you’ll be rewarded with a set of up to 12 free spins.

The other specialty that’s associated with Shield symbols is called Round Table of Fortune and you’ll need to collect twelve knights in order to trigger it. Collecting them isn’t all that hard, however – you’ll get one whenever you find two or more Shield symbols during a single spin.

In any case, what awaits you once you get the full set of knights is a nice cash reward that depends on how big your bets were during the collection phase. There’s a random multiplier thrown into the mix as well, however, so you can win big even if you were staying away from the highest betting levels.

Technicalities

Forsaken Kingdom takes place on twenty paylines that are spread over five reels and three rows, so the setup is completely mainstream. Interestingly, however, the lowest-paying symbols pay out even if you find just two of them from left to right, which ensures that you won’t be walking away empty-handed very often.

Since the number of paylines isn’t fixed, you can use two different sliders in order to adjust your betting levels. The lowest amount that you can play for is just €0.01, but high rollers can take that all the way up to €40.

The theoretical RTP (return to player) of Forsaken Kingdom stands at 96.54%, which is arguably an inch above the market average.

Summary

At first glance, Forsaken Kingdom looks like a basic run-of-the-mill fantasy slot game that can’t really attract a large audience. A closer look, however, reveals that it’s actually much better than that, as it combines excellent production values with entertaining gameplay that has a few nice gimmicks that will surprise even the most hardened of veterans.

The theme might not be incredibly imaginative, but we do like the fact that the atmosphere is much darker than what we’re used to getting in most fantasy slots, so the bottom line is that we can recommend Forsaken Kingdom to pretty much everyone.
