Queen of Gold Slot Review

Although there most certainly isn’t a shortage of Egyptian-themed slots as such, one could reasonably argue that there is a shortage of good Egyptian-themed games. For whatever reason, many games developers don’t treat these slots with a lot of care, so many of them are bad or thoroughly average.

We were therefore quite sceptical when we first heard about Queen of Gold, which was released by Pragmatic Play in February 2017. We did decide to give it a chance, however – and the following lines will reveal what we think about the final product.

Theme and Graphics

Queen of Gold will take you to ancient Egypt and we can tell you that there aren’t even any twists to that theme, so you can expect to see some very familiar faces if you’ve already played a few Egyptian-themed slots. The highest-paying symbol depicts the titular Queen of Gold, while the rest of the symbols are a mix of Egyptian gods, pyramids, and death masks. There are also three card symbols to be found on the slot’s reels, but they don’t feel too out-of-place really.

The graphical style is very slick and very modern, so we’re sure that you’ll like what you’re going to see, while the small animated background also adds a bit to the atmosphere.

And the game’s soundtrack? Well, it might not be incredibly innovative, but it’s certainly very pleasant – just like the audiovisuals as a whole.

Gameplay

Alright, let’s now take a look at the gameplay features Queen of Gold has – and we can tell you that there’s actually a fair number of them.

To kick things off, there’s the Bonus symbol that looks like a blue pyramid and that can give you access to the slot’s Free Spins Round. All you need to get are three of these symbols on reels 1, 3, and 5 – and what you’re going to get is a nice batch of ten free spins.

Next, there’s the Wild symbol that looks like a golden death mask and that substitutes for all symbols – except for the Bonus one, that is.

Thirdly, Queen of Gold has a very special sixth reel that contains win multipliers and a special Joker symbol. This reel is in play during all spins and the win multiplier it hits is applied to all line wins, which can make for some truly nice payouts here and there.

Finally, there’s the so-called Progressive Game that allows you to advance through six different levels. In order to do that, you have to collect points by guessing where the highest-paying symbol will occur next – just click on the spot you fancy the most to get it marked with a golden ring and hope for the best! Every single right guess will give you one point and you’ll need to collect five of them in order to make it to the next level (alternatively, you can hit a Joker symbol on the sixth reel and fulfil that objective in one go) – and each of these levels improves the win multipliers on the sixth reel.

Technicalities

Queen of Gold takes place on twenty-five bet lines that are spread across five reels and three rows, which is pretty much the standard fare as far as slot games are concerned nowadays.

All bet lines are fixed, but that doesn’t mean that there aren’t any betting options to choose from. Quite the contrary – the betting range is very solid, going from just €0.25 all the way up to €125.

And if you care about the theoretical RTP (return to player)? Well, then we can tell you that everything is fine on that front here, as the game comes with a very solid RTP of 96.5%

Summary

Although Queen of Gold might look like your typical Egyptian-themed slot game at first glance, it’d be very unfair to judge it on that alone. In fact, there are some very intriguing gameplay mechanics hidden underneath that appearance, with the sixth reel concept standing out the most.

Unless you just can’t stand Egyptian-themed games for some reason, Queen of Gold is most certainly worth checking out – we can pretty much guarantee that you’re going to enjoy what it offers!

Where to Play

Queen of Gold was developed and produced by Pragmatic Play, a fairly small developer that doesn’t seem to be able to get its games to the biggest of online casinos. That isn’t ideal, of course, but you don’t have to despair either – the SlotsMillion online casino has Pragmatic Play in its software selection!

Chances are that you’ve never seen its banners anywhere, but don’t let that put you off – the marketing side of things is arguably the casino’s only weak spot. And what are its strong sides?

First of all, it has a magnificent selection of slot games that’s essentially unmatched across the entire market. The slots from Pragmatic Play are just the beginning – there are also hundreds of games from firms like Thunderkick, 2 By 2 Gaming, Microgaming, and Net Entertainment.

Secondly, the casino has prepared a very special virtual reality environment for players that have already bought a VR headset. It’s certainly an interesting experience and we’re sure that SlotsMillion are going to take it even further in the future, so do give them a shot if you’re at least slightly interested in what virtual reality could do for online gaming!

And, to round it all off, we also can’t fail to mention that the casino always has some interesting promotions on offer. They don’t tend to be massive, but there’s something to enjoy at all times – and that counts for a lot in our book!
