Sky Way Slot Review

Although there are many games developers that are trying to be as innovative as possible, it’s quite obvious that it’s impossible to send shockwaves through the industry with every single slot release – and that’s the mindset that you should have when going to Sky Way, which was released by Playson in the tail end of 2014.

Theme and Graphics

Sky Way is going to take you to the air during your quest for riches – and what a journey it’s going to be! The symbols on the reels feature a fairly diverse set of characters and there are also some navigation things to be found on them, while the Scatter comes in the form of an airship.

Unfortunately, the designers weren’t creative enough to make all the symbols unique, so six of them come in the form of traditional card symbols like Aces, Kings and Jacks. They’re all stylized, however, so it’s not too bad overall.

There’s also absolutely nothing wrong with how the game looks from the technical point of view and we actually quite like the slot’s interface, as it really makes you feel as if you were piloting an actual airship. It’s a gimmick, of course, but it does enhance Sky Way’s atmosphere in a great way, so we’re happy that Playson decided to include it.

The soundtrack is also a nice effort and it’s certainly dramatic enough to get you going, so we’re happy to give Sky Way a thumbs up for how it looks and sounds.

How good is Sky Way from the gameplay point of view, however? Does the quality of that match the quality of the audiovisuals? Unfortunately, we have to say that it doesn’t, as all the gameplay features are rather basic and unimaginative.

First of all, there’s the mandatory Wild symbol that works as a substitute for all the other regular symbols, but it also has a very nice payout on its own – in fact, you’re going to get a very nice check if you’re lucky enough to get a full winning line of Wilds.

Apart from that, there’s also the Scatter symbol, which is the key to the game’s Free Spins feature. Once you manage to find three or more Scatters during a single spin, you’ll be rewarded with a grand total of sixteen free spins – and you can win an additional set of sixteen free spins if you find three or more Scatters during the original batch.

The kicker is that the Scatter symbol also doubles as a Wild during all free spins, which pretty much ensures that you won’t ever have to walk away from them empty-handed.

We can also mention that players that like to just sit back and enjoy the proceedings can take advantage of the simplistic autoplay feature, but that really is it as far as special features are concerned and it does get one wondering – why exactly aren’t there more things to enjoy?

It’s possible to speculate that Playson wanted to have a game that combines an interesting theme and audiovisuals with uncomplicated gameplay features, but we would nonetheless appreciate seeing at least one speciality thrown into the mix on top of all the things we’ve mentioned above.

Although Sky Way takes place on a completely orthodox playing field with three rows and five reels, the interesting bit is that there are twenty-one paylines for you to play with – and that’s a number that you simply don’t see very often.

What’s more, you can freely adjust that number, so there’s a huge amount of betting options to choose from. The lowest stake that you can play for is just €0.01, but those who enjoy playing for more can take it all up to €210.

The theoretical RTP (return to player) of Sky Way stands at 95.70%, which is fully in line with the industry standards.

Although it’s impossible to call Sky Way innovative and although we do have some issues with what it offers, the bottom line is that it’s a rock-solid slot game that should provide all players with at least a couple of hours of top-notch fun – and we guess that this is what everyone is looking for when it comes to online slot gaming.

Unless you’re scared of heights and flying, Sky Way is worth checking out at some point, especially if you’re one of those players that don’t like playing the same slot over and over again. This one isn’t likely to grab your attention for very long, after all, so you’ll be free to move on after a few sessions.

Where to Play

Sky Way was produced by Playson, a company that’s keen on maintaining a presence at some of the biggest online casinos out there – and the one that we’d want to well and truly highlight here is the Mr Green online casino.

To kick things off, it’s got an excellent games repertoire that includes not only slot games from a very nice selection of developers, but also a solid number of live casino tables that all the traditionalists out there are bound to enjoy.

This selection then goes hand in hand with the casino’s range of promotions and bonuses, which is going to please even those players that don’t consider themselves to be high rollers.

And the mobile section? Well, that’s where Mr Green well and truly shine, as the apps they have available for both Android and iOS systems are arguably the very top of the crop. You don’t even have to take our word for it – the fact that the casino won the Mobile Operator of the Year category at the 2016 IGA Awards speaks for itself!
