Grim Muerto Slot Review

It’s not incredibly often that you see a release with a truly bizarre theme, but Play’n GO are certainly not afraid of such things, as their Grim Muerto slot brought a breath of fresh air onto the slot gaming scene in 2016. To be fair, we’ve already seen one slot game building on the Mexican Day of the Dead festival, so this release isn’t the very first of its kind, but it’s supposed to be more mainstream than the Esqueleto Explosivo slot from Thunderkick, so we’ve decided to check it out and tell you what we think.

Theme and Graphics

As we’ve already mentioned, Grim Muerto is all about the Mexican Day of the Dead festival, which means that you’re going to see plenty of skulls and skeletons on the game’s symbols, most of which are also associated with a musical instrument. It’s a slightly morbid sight, of course, but the visuals are also quite funny in their own right and we’re sure that many players will simply love how bright and colorful everything is, so we’re happy to give Grim Muerto a big thumbs up in the visual department – although we can’t fail to mention that the boring A-K-Q-J-10 suite of symbols is included in the mix.

The other thing that we’d want to highlight here is the audio side of things, which is simply excellent no matter how you look at it – and it does fit into the slot’s theme in the best possible way.

We most certainly like the audiovisuals – but what about the gameplay? Well, we’ve got some good news for everyone who’s already itching to give Grim Muerto a go, as there’s a lot to be liked on this front as well!

First of all, there’s the mandatory Wild symbol that works exactly as you’d expect it to. That’s not where the fun ends, however, as Wilds play a major role in the Marco Siniestro feature. At the start of each spin, one reel is selected at random – and all Wilds in that given reel are going to expand to cover all three rows.

Next, there are the Scatter symbols – and they can actually activate not one, but two special features in this game. When you get two of them during a single spin, you’re going to activate the Second Chance minigame that will allow you to get a coin reward or a third Scatter symbol, which will automatically activate the Free Spins feature.

The slot’s Free Spins are naturally also activated whenever you manage to get three Scatter symbols during a single spin – and you will always be rewarded by a grand total of ten free spins. Is that all? Well, you can bet that it isn’t, as there are three interesting details that will make the free spins incredibly exciting.

Firstly, one of the regular skeleton symbols will become an Extra Wild during all free spins. Secondly, the aforementioned Marco Siniestro feature will be in effect at all times – but it’s not going to select a single reel, but between two and five of them. Finally, you’ll also be able to gather special Candle symbols – getting one will give you three additional free spins, getting two will give you six additional free spins and getting three will re-trigger the entire Free Spins feature!

Grim Muerto is using a fairly orthodox setup of five reels and three rows, while the number of paylines has been fixed at twenty.

Thankfully, that doesn’t mean that there are just a couple of bet levels to choose from – in fact, you can play for as much as €100 or as little as €0.20, with various bet levels to be found between these two extremes.

The theoretical RTP (return to player) of the game stands at the 96.51% mark, which is pretty much what you’d expect to see at a mid-range slot.

As hard as we tried, we couldn’t find any negatives that we could mention in connection with Grim Muerto. It’s an incredibly enjoyable slot game that mixes fabulous audiovisuals with interesting gameplay features that will keep you entertained for long hours, so we’d wholeheartedly recommend it to everyone who wants to give something new a go. The bizarre theme might not be to everyone’s liking, but we’re sure that many players will actually enjoy seeing such a fresh game.

Where to Play Grim Muerto slot

Grim Muerto comes from Play’n GO, a Swedish company that’s been around since the year of 1997. Its age hardly reflects its popularity, however, so chances are that you don’t have an account at one of the online casinos that house its games.

There’s one that we’d like to recommend to you in that case – and it goes by the name of SlotsMillion. Once you make an account at these guys, you’ll never have any issues getting to your favourite slot games, as the games catalogue that SlotsMillion had at the time of writing included more than 1,200 (!) unique slots from all kinds of developers. There’s only a small price to pay for all that, as you’ll have to miss out on classic table and card games, which will probably never appear in this online casino – but who’d want to care about that with such a huge games catalogue?

And SlotsMillion aren’t only about games – there’s also a plethora of bonuses and promotions to take advantage of at all times, while players that like experimenting with new things are going to appreciate the fact that the casino is starting to implement various VR features. There’s just no going around it – SlotsMillion are the ideal online casino for all slots fans!
