Star Quest Slot Review

Just a few years ago, the 243 Ways to Win feature seemed to be the big thing, allowing players to take advantage of a large number of paylines. Pretty much everyone loved it – and nobody thought that you could push paylines much further. Big Time Gaming, however, are proving that there is still a lot of room for improvement when it comes to that particular department, with the Star Quest video slot they released in the second half of 2016 representing a fine addition to their line of Megaways slots.

Theme and Graphics

As its name suggests, this slot is all about reaching for the stars. You therefore won’t be surprised to learn that the action takes place on a nicely-animated space background and that the symbols all have futuristic designs. The creativity level isn’t all that excellent, on the other hand, as the Wild appears to be the only truly unique symbol.

There isn’t anything to complain about on the audio front, on the other hand, as the soundtrack manages to remain fresh regardless of how many hours you decide to dedicate to the game.

Gameplay

With the audiovisuals out of the way, let’s now take a look at the gameplay features Star Quest comes with. Apart from the Megaways specialty, which we’re going to explain in the next section, there are essentially two things to look forward to – and they both have something to do with the Wild symbol.

There actually aren’t any small Wild symbols to look forward to – instead, what you can get are Full Reel Wilds that cover an entire reel and that substitute for any other symbol. That’s far from it, however, as all Wilds also have a starting multiplier of x1 that can increase to up to x5 – and the kicker is that these multipliers can actually work together whenever you get more than just a single Wild (for example, one Wild with a x2 multiplier can combine with another one that has a x3 multiplier to give winning paylines a x6 boost).

Star Quest Slot

How can you increase the multipliers Wilds come with, however? Well, that’s what the Respin Wilds Feature is for. It works like this – whenever you get a Full Reel Wild, you’ll automatically trigger a respin and increase the multiplier of all Wilds (that naturally remain locked in place) by a notch. If you find another Wild after the respin, you’re going to trigger a new respin round – and it all goes on until you either fill five reels with Wilds or fail to find an additional Wild after a respin.

Technicalities

We’ve started this review by saying that Star Quest is a Megaways slot – and what that means is that it’s using a dynamic playing field that changes with every single new spin, which naturally has a dramatic effect on how many rows and paylines there are.

The number of reels remains the same – 6 – throughout, but the number of rows for each of those reels can range from one to seven, with the highest amount of possible paylines standing at 117649. There’s no need to worry, however, as the current number is always conveniently displayed at the top of the screen.

As far as betting levels are concerned, there are eight different stakes to choose from, starting at just €0.20 and going all the way up to €40. The variety of options is actually quite nice – not only does it allow players with minuscule bankrolls to give the game a go, but it also ensures that even high rollers can enjoy everything to the full.

Meanwhile, the theoretical RTP (return to player) of Star Quest stands at 96.22%.

Summary

All in all, Star Quest is a great addition to Big Time Gaming’s line of Megaways slots and we can fully recommend it to all players that like the idea of having a massive amount of paylines to play with. It doesn’t really do much to push the formula further, but we wouldn’t call that incredibly problematic due to the fact that the Megaways feature is still rather fresh. Are there things that could be improved? Of course there are – but none of these small minuses look deal-breaking to us.

Where to Play

Chances are that you’re now itching to take Star Quest out for a few spins, so we’re going to give you a casino recommendation – and the place that we’re going to point you is Unibet.

You might’ve actually already heard about these guys, but we can tell you that they’ve gone through some radical changes recently and that what they offer now is simply excellent. Not only does their games catalogue include slots from more than just a handful of developers, but they also have a very solid number of live casino tables to play at, so you’ll just never run out of things to enjoy when staying at Unibet.

That’s not all, however. Apart from the games selection, there’s also a huge range of various bonuses and promotions to take advantage of, while those of you who enjoy gaming on their tablets and smartphones are simply bound to fall in love with the apps the casino is offering for both iOS and Android devices. The interesting bit is that there are separate apps for different parts of the online casino, so you don’t have to download everything if you want to play nothing else but, say, slots.

And the bonus? Well, Unibet are also running their very own sports betting service and it’s actually one of the best out there, so they could easily become your one stop shop for all online gaming needs.
